Junior Security Engineer

About the role

The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, and reliable enterprise-technology services to partner agencies to better serve Hoosier taxpayers. IOT also acts as the technology and solution enabler for the State, aiding its partner agencies in achieving business objectives and fostering innovation.

Responsibilities

• Supports documentation of computer security or emergency measure policies, procedures, or tests.
• Maintains monitoring of networks or systems for security breaches or intrusions.
• Aids in coordinating vulnerability assessments or analysis of information security systems.
• Supports information security standards and best practices.
• Assists in identifying or implementing solutions to information security problems.
• Provides technical support to computer users for installation and use of security products.
• Recommends information security enhancements to management.
• Affirms security assessments for computing environments or checks for compliance with cybersecurity standards and regulations.
• Performs basic troubleshooting for security and network problems.

Requirements

• Knowledge of security frameworks, software, operating systems, and compliance regulations.
• Knowledge of programming languages and scripting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with technical experience.
• Ability to develop and maintain information security standards.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
• No degree required, but a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) may be considered.
