Junior Network Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Create procedures and identify/troubleshoot network problems.
• Ensure requirements are met for new and existing systems in support of engineering and installation.
• Provide hands-on technical support and managerial direction for the global network infrastructure of a large Federal Government agency.
• Setup and maintain AWS VPCs, subnets, route tables, and security groups.
• Support the monitoring and troubleshooting of AWS network connectivity issues.
• Aid in the setup of site-to-site VPNs and Direct Connect links.
• Perform routine audits of network access control lists (ACLs) and security group rules.
• Collaborate with cloud engineers to support hybrid network architecture.
• Manage Elastic IP addresses, NAT gateways, and internet gateways.
• Implement AWS Transit Gateway configurations.
• Support the deployment and testing of network automation scripts.
• Manage enterprise class Cisco routers and switches.
• Use network management and monitoring tools.
• Configure and maintain wireless networks.
• Document network configurations and changes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of network administration.
• Experience with AWS VPCs, subnets, route tables, and security groups.
• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting AWS network connectivity issues.
• Experience with setting up site-to-site VPNs and Direct Connect links.
• Experience with auditing network access control lists and security group rules.
• Experience with collaborating with cloud engineers.
• Experience with managing Elastic IP addresses, NAT gateways, and internet gateways.
• Experience with implementing AWS Transit Gateway configurations.
• Experience with deploying and testing network automation scripts.
• Experience with managing enterprise class Cisco routers and switches.
• Experience with network management and monitoring tools.
• Experience with wireless network configurations and installation.
• Advanced understanding of TCP/IP including layer 2/3 VLANs and routing protocols.
• Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively.
• Availability for weekend and evening work if required.
• Ability to document in detail all implementations and projects.

Desired Certifications

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
