About the role
This is a Jr-Mid Level Industrial Hygiene contractor position supporting a national aerospace manufacturer in Wichita, Kansas. The role is full-time, onsite, with 8-hour days, 5 days a week. The initial contract is for 3 months with possible extension based on performance.
The incumbent will execute occupational safety and industrial hygiene projects, including workplace exposure assessments, data management, deliverable preparation, and program effectiveness evaluations. The role requires an energetic self-starter capable of working independently and producing results within budget and timeframe.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational safety and industrial hygiene consulting services, including shop floor observations to identify, assess, and risk-rank employee exposures, and devise mitigation solutions.
- Coordinate and execute safety and industrial hygiene projects in collaboration with Apex client relationship managers, adhering to organizational procedures and standards.
- Implement and execute an agreed-to service plan with the external customer, monitor progress, and report on plan completion.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project velocity and act as an advisor on occupational safety and industrial hygiene issues.
- Provide input to client relationship managers or business development staff on potential new EHS projects.
- Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and stay updated on changes to laws and regulations impacting the organization.
- Demonstrate strong technical writing skills, multitasking ability, safety awareness, and proficiency in data management and report preparation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a science or engineering field.
- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in occupational safety and industrial hygiene.
- Desirable (but not required) professional credentials: Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or heavy industry settings is a plus; aerospace, defense, or automotive industry experience is a further plus.
- Technical knowledge in industrial hygiene, including shop floor sampling/monitoring (chemicals, noise, ventilation systems), Similar Exposure Groups (SEG) concepts, and IH program management (e.g., Hazard Communication, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection).
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, creativity, and self-starter initiative.
- Ability to work independently, plan, and accomplish goals using experience and judgment.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Schedule
