Junior Mechanical Engineer
About the role
CPT is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support the Gun Weapon Systems Division (E30) at NSWC Dahlgren. This role directly supports U.S. Navy gun weapon system development, evaluation, and sustainment programs in a collaborative, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mechanical systems requirements management and engineering design activities for Gun Weapon System components and assemblies.
- Affiliate with mechanical design, integration, and documentation tasks using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Pro/Engineer.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering working groups supporting E30 Gun Weapon Systems development.
- Affiliate with mechanical systems test planning, evaluation, and data collection.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, engineering drawings, and design specifications.
- Support mechanical systems troubleshooting and engineering change activities in coordination with program teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 0–2 years of experience in mechanical engineering design or related field.
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer, or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Qualifications
- Secret clearance (strongly desired); must be eligible to obtain.
- Academic or internship experience with defense systems, weapons, or naval engineering.
- Familiarity with MIL-SPEC documentation and government engineering processes.
- Experience or coursework in mechanical systems integration or manufacturing processes.
