Junior Machine Learning Engineer

MeeBoss is sharing this active opportunity on behalf of the hiring company. This is a contract-to-hire role for a Junior Agentic AI/ML Engineer with a fast-growing Generative AI startup in the greater Seattle area.

About the role

Own projects from 0 to 1, focusing on core innovations to improve how enterprises interact with data to find actionable business insights, rather than typical CRUD application development. Collaborate with a collective of AI trailblazers committed to making AI accessible.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI agents for analyzing academic data and improving student outcomes.
• Build and train machine learning models for predictive analytics, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection.
• Develop Python scripts for data extraction, preprocessing, and model integration.
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) for natural language generation and explanation.
• Implement MLOps best practices for model deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Design and implement data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading academic data from Azure databases.
• Develop and maintain data warehouses and data lakes for AI model training.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to support model development and deployment.
• Utilize AI copilots like Cursor and Claude to accelerate development and automate data pipeline creation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify use cases and translate them into AI solutions.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.
• Strong proficiency in Python and relevant libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Knowledge of NLP and LLMs.
• Experience with MLOps tools and practices.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with LLM prompt engineering.
• Experience with Cursor or similar No Code/Low Code AI coding tools is a strong plus.
