About the Role

The Junior Handler will screen cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. The role requires completing a 4-8 week minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization to the assigned location.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in CCSP-related training to search cargo and identify potential threats.
  • Conduct authorized representative duties related to X-Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed.
  • Perform Junior Handler duties while commanding a trained working dog.
  • Maintain training records, care, and maintenance of assigned certified canine.
  • Ensure the assigned canine lives inside the employee’s residence, which must be adequate, indoor, and climate-controlled; the living area is subject to recurring inspections.
  • Maintain all job-related certifications and required security clearances.
  • Operate a company vehicle during on-site training.
  • Work in varied conditions, including busy training environments, fieldwork, and frequent interruptions.
  • Work outside in inclement weather, including heat, cold, and humidity.
  • May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • Work hours dictated by the customer’s schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; schedule will vary.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required; must have held citizenship for a minimum of three years prior to the date of application.
  • Must obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks of employment.
  • Must obtain a Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks of employment.
  • Adequate transportation to transport assigned canine and crate (inside the vehicle) to/from work location; vehicle must have operational climate control.
  • Must pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications for the program within four to eight weeks of employment and maintain certification requirements.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; license must comply with REAL ID standards or possess a valid U.S. passport in addition to a driver’s license.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Requires standing for long periods in all weather conditions.
  • Requires intermittent sitting, walking, running, climbing, squatting, stretching, bending, and kneeling.
  • Requires constant use of hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
