Junior HVACR Technician
About the Role
Siemens is seeking a qualified candidate for a permanent position to provide preventative maintenance on HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) work in support of a long-term and progressive government customer in Honolulu, Hawaii. We are seeking a team-oriented individual with training and experience in servicing various types of air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in the field under general supervision, completing work in a timely fashion, and prioritizing customer satisfaction, safety, and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Perform manufacturer preventative maintenance service on the following equipment: AHUs, FCUs, split and mini-split units, supply and exhaust fans, ice machines, VAVs, walk-in refrigeration and freezers, condensers, pumps, valves, motors, cooling towers, air compressors, and all auxiliary equipment.
- Recycle and charge refrigerants as required.
- Inspect and test refrigeration systems, safety devices, and controls for efficiency of operation and compliance with safety practices and regulations.
- Clean coils and other parts, oil fans, change filters, adjust airflow, and replace gas or fluid in systems.
- Replace filters, belts, and other parts as needed.
- Repair and adjust pneumatic control lines and fittings, lubricate and oil equipment according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and observe operation sequences of refrigeration systems, making necessary adjustments to control fluid levels, pressure, or temperature.
- Determine parts and equipment needed for maintenance and repair work.
- Read and interpret schematics, shop drawings, and technical manuals.
- Maintain records of inspections and work performed.
- Make adjustments to building HVAC systems using a computerized Building Automation System (BAS).
- Perform root cause analysis and strive for continuous improvement, making recommendations to the customer.
- May be required to assist in facility emergencies.
- 1 to 2 days of shift work monthly.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, and technical descriptions.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Interpersonal skills; telephone skills; problem-solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree from a two-year college or technical school is highly preferred.
- Experience and training in the basics of either technical school or certifications received during training classes from industry vendors.
- Working knowledge of boiler and chiller systems a plus.
- Soldering skills a plus.
- HVAC Certified.
- OSHA 10/OSHA 30 certification.
- Fall Protection certification.
- Confined space certification.
- Ability to use and understand numerous types of electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and machines.
- Experience working in a hospitality setting.
Security Clearance
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. federal agency security clearance.
Pay
$65,790.00 – $85,000.00 per year.
