Junior Estimator (Summer 2027 Internship)
About the Role
DBI Consultants are construction experts specializing in evaluating damaged structures. Our mission is to provide clear, independent, and accurate recommendations backed by hard evidence and deep expertise. We offer a well-organized and unique internship experience for high-potential students in the AEC field, combining field and cost estimating experiences with custom training modules and companywide engagement.
The Opportunity
As a Junior Estimator in our 10-week, 2027 Summer internship program, you will work alongside seasoned Estimators and Project Managers to learn how damage assessment projects are measured, documented, and presented. This paid internship offers $20.00 - $27.50 per hour, depending on education and experience, and is available across a dozen office locations throughout the US. Our goal is to hire 90% of Junior Estimators into entry-level permanent opportunities after completion of their degrees.
Responsibilities
- Assist with site visits to collect measurements, photos, and project details.
- Support the analysis of labor, materials, and timelines for project estimates.
- Help track costs and flag differences between projected and actual figures.
- Learn to prepare professional reports and data entries in estimating tools.
- Gain exposure to industry software like Xactimate and Bluebeam Revu.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the AEC field, such as civil engineering or construction management.
- Strong career interest in construction consulting, estimating, and project management.
- Comfortable working full-time in both office and field environments.
- Willingness to travel locally and work within or atop damaged buildings, including roofs.
Physical Activities and Requirements
The role requires physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, or feeling. This includes lifting weights of up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders upwards of 30 feet, and working in various environments. Close visual acuity is necessary for preparing reports, using a computer, and making detailed inspections.
