Junior Estimator - Raleigh, NC

About the role

Fred Smith Company is seeking a Junior Estimator with two to three years of experience estimating Heavy Highway or Heavy Civil work. This is not an entry-level role; demonstrable previous experience as a heavy civil estimator is preferred. The position is based in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Requirements

• Two to three years of previous experience estimating Heavy Highway or Heavy Civil work
• Four-year degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or other related field (highly preferred)
• High School diploma or GED (minimum education required)
• Must be authorized to work in the USA
• Valid driver’s license with a positive driving history

Responsibilities

• Estimate self-performed projects ranging from $5 million to $50 million, including pricing labor, equipment, and material costs
• Demonstrate working knowledge of construction assemblies and all project phases
• Produce detailed, accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings
• Assess site exposures and construction risks, analyzing and reflecting costs in estimates
• Identify constructability issues during the estimating process
• Propose value-engineering alternatives
• Read, write, and communicate effectively while working cohesively within a team environment

Skills

• Working experience with HCSS software (a plus)
