Junior Electrical System Design Engineer

About the role

The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, you will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into aerospace and military systems, including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

Responsibilities

• System level electrical architecture and design
• Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
• Component selection and derating activities
• New hardware design verification testing
• Support system level integration activities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution
• 2+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation, or an MS degree
• Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
• Ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment with multi-disciplinary teams
• Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams
• Cable design experience
• Proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
• Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards
• Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
• Experience supporting cable production
• Experience with high power applications

Pay

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
