About the role

This is a commission-based position responsible for assisting to achieve financial and strategic goals. Racquet Sports Professionals actively support daily operations of the department as well as adhere to and enforce Sports Core and resort policies and procedures. They maintain relationships and industry knowledge via USTA, USPTA, and PPA. Racquet Sports Pros ensure maximum and creative usage of the facilities for all ages and abilities while maintaining a safe environment for play and development. They assist in the promotion of group fitness classes and personal training for the overall health and well-being of members and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Racquet Sports to develop and execute financial and marketing plans to meet financial objectives, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Plan and facilitate private, semi-private, and group tennis and pickleball classes.
  • Possess the skills to restring and regrip racquets and ensure quality service.
  • Assist in developing activity planning calendars and execute creative programs that maximize court usage.
  • Facilitate tennis programs for members, hotel guests, and the general public, including lessons, social events, and drills for all ages.
  • Assist with marketing efforts to meet participation goals.
  • Establish standards for tennis and pickleball instruction and ensure adherence to those standards, including teaching techniques, student interaction, recordkeeping, and maximizing indoor and outdoor court usage.
  • Assist in scheduling, promoting, and executing both sanctioned and non-sanctioned tournaments for adults, high school, and college players, in accordance with WTA, USTA, and USA Pickleball guidelines.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends via meeting attendance and communication with local, regional, and national organizations.
  • Perform racquet stringing and grip services on a commission basis if qualified and trained.
  • Serve as Sports Core ambassador for tennis and pickleball in the absence of the Director of Racquet Sports, maintaining necessary membership or recordkeeping needs at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Advocate the benefits of racquet sports to all age groups and champion year-round junior programs on a regional level by working with area coaches and racquet sports organizations through lessons, specialty programs, clinics, drills, and on/off-site tournament coaching for members and non-members.
  • Maintain accurate records and database information related to all tennis and pickleball activity, including lesson rosters and tournaments, and complete all necessary reports in a timely fashion.
  • Work closely with management regarding retail Pro Shop offerings, sales, and promotions, including racquets, paddles, strings, grips, and apparel.
  • Collaborate with maintenance on equipment needs.
  • Ensure a high degree of safety for both indoor tennis and pickleball facilities, inspecting areas regularly to maintain quality levels and following applicable WTA, USTA, and PPA guidelines.
  • Maintain close relationships with Operations Team members and participate in both business-specific and resort-wide meetings and gatherings.
  • Remain engaged and portray the attributes required of a high-quality membership club and Forbes/5 Star resort.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
  • Recruit and manage sign-ups for youth and junior programs.
  • Sanction and schedule USTA events of all levels for the club and assist with staffing.
  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with department members and bi-weekly department meetings.
  • Manage administrative hours (Admin Code).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at a high-caliber club or resort.
  • Maintain at least one nationally recognized tennis certification (PTR, RSPA).
  • Friendly demeanor and above-average communication skills to interact effectively with members and the general public of all ages.
  • Prior supervisory experience or leadership role to assist in overseeing Tennis Pros and Racquet Sports Assistants.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

Pay

Total compensation for this position includes a commission based on a percentage of individual sales, as well as an hourly rate for administrative functions. The specific commission earned may be influenced by a variety of factors.

Schedule

This is a part-time position working weekends and weekdays. Hours vary between 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM.
