Junior Designer

About the role

The Junior Designer at IA Interior Architects is responsible for performing a broad variety of drafting and design tasks under the supervision of more senior designers or project managers. This position involves assisting in the development of design ideas, supporting the selection of fixtures and finishes, and learning various aspects of the design process including space planning, detailing, and cost estimating.

Responsibilities

• Work with the design team to develop design ideas
• Absorb and assist senior designers in selecting fixtures and finishes
• Develop preliminary space plans under supervision
• Absorb and assist in the creation of furniture and finish packages, along with cost estimating
• Support senior staff in verifying site details to support design
• Assist in field surveys of client spaces
• Correct drawings red-lined by others
• Support the team in collecting information for client assessments; may attend interviews, provide documentation support, and develop skills using Affinity program tools

Qualifications

• Graduate of architecture or design school or equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience or equivalent educational experience, preferred in corporate interior design projects

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong intermediate Revit skills
• Familiarity with color, materials, and aesthetic form
• Familiarity with space planning methodology
• Familiarity with furnishings and equipment
• Basic sketching and rendering skills
• Basic interior architecture detailing skills
• Working knowledge of CDs and procedures
• Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
• Basic Adobe Creative Suite skills
• Basic verbal and written communication skills
