Job Summary

The Junior Automotive Technician is to integrate and learn our processes while assisting in the maintenance of Wheelhouse East, Inc fleet vehicles and daily operations. This position is intended to train and develop the skillsets that are utilized in a fully functioning performance-based shop. They will champion the company’s mission and vision while modeling the company’s values.

Specific Accountabilities And Responsibilities

  • Develop skills and knowledge as a career automotive technician.
  • Develop personal tooling to evolve beyond an entry-level position.
  • Affiliate with any routine maintenance and tech turns of the company fleet vehicles.
  • Perform tire dismounting, mounting, and wheel balancing.
  • Affiliate with general and varied day-to-day duties allow for efficient operations of the shop.
  • Affiliate with maintaining organization and cleanliness of shop and storage areas.
  • Efficiently perform various onsite and offsite errands, including vehicle transports.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of the company, its products and programs.
  • Protect the moral, legal and financial well-being of the company.
  • Continually work with other team members and departments to find new and better ways of accomplishing work and results with an emphasis on safety, accountability, leadership, and guest service.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • High School Graduate.
  • Ability to interact well with guests and fellow team members.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain a current forklift operator certificate.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in the most productive and/or appropriate manner.
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions that match the company’s values and standards.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Proficient manual transmission operation or ability to learn.
  • Supervision Received And Exercised:
  • Reports to the shop manager, receives general guidance from other automotive technicians.
  • Expectations:
  • Adhere to an event-driven work schedule—primarily Monday through Friday—with some evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Professionally represent the company in the community, industry organizations, and during events.
  • Use proper and professional language in the workplace, when interfacing with guests or potential clients, and when representing the company in an official capacity.
  • Be efficient with time management skills, allowing work to get done in a timely manner.
  • Show respect for others and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a current valid driver’s license, have a clean driving record, and pass a background and drug screening.

Physical Demands

  • May be required to work long hours when needed, or as business requires.
  • Active, physical, on-the-go daily workflow.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Moderate to high levels of stress may be associated with this position.

Language Skills

  • Must be able to communicate in English.
