Junior Application Technician - Performance Coatings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare application formulations and apply on customer supplied substrates.
• Application of formulated coatings to be performed at lab or pilot scale by spray, gravure, dip/nip, pad bath or similar methods.
• Testing to customer requirements of finished parts for physical properties, color/aesthetics and flammability.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team locally, nationally and globally to support and promote development of Stahl chemistry and capabilities.
• Present and share findings with Technical Sales, Customer, internal R&D and Applications team.
• Organizes and records all pertinent testing information in the laboratory project files as references for future use, and maintains all documents, prints or items generated from projects.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and orderly work area and laboratory space assigned.
• This role is in support of customer trials at our Center of Excellence for N. American automotive customers, so customer interaction and a professional presentation is expected.
• Other duties as assigned

• Education and/or Experience:
• Position is intended for an individual in active pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Textile Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Plastic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related sciences.
• Hands on experience including formulation of specialty coatings, color matching, plant processing procedures, quality control test procedures or technical service are preferred.
• Language Skills:
• Effective communication skills are required.
• Mathematical Skills:
• Ability to do basic math and write legibly.
• Computer Skills:
• Basic computer skills are required.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office
