Junior Air Quality Staff Scientist / Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Junior Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to join our expanding Air Quality Permitting and Compliance Team in Anchorage, Alaska.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and efficiently complete tasks in support of air quality-related compliance reporting, permitting, stakeholder communication, and field data collection.
• Interact with project team members to steward compliance reports and permit applications and through the review process to delivery.
• Understand and utilize compliance tracking and reporting software tools.
• Provide technical understanding related to projects (e.g., regulatory requirements, compliance obligations).
• Assist clients with compliance programs.
• Proactively work with SLR project managers to maintain a sustainable workload.
• Short-duration travel to visit project locations and attend meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related scientific field.
• Previous experience in the areas of air quality permitting and compliance consulting is a plus.
• Zero to 2 years of experience solving environmental problems, calculating air quality emissions, and interpreting permits or environmental regulations.
• Technical writing skills, and experience writing comprehensive technical reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite software and PDF software.
• Ability to visit industrial and manufacturing facilities.
