About the role

Performs a variety of court clerical work in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of court records for a division within the Circuit, District, Family, Land/Tax Appeal or Appellate Courts.

Responsibilities

  • Examines, prepares, and processes legal forms and documents.
  • Maintains court records and files.
  • Assists in the scheduling of court proceedings.
  • Handles incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Coordinates with attorneys and court staff.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of general clerical work experience.
  • Six (6) months of work experience in a court, legal, criminal justice, law enforcement, or corrections setting, including the examining, preparation, and processing of legal forms and documents.
  • The ability to type 40 net words per minute.

Qualifications

  • Education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Substitution of Education for General Experience: 15 semester credits for six (6) months of General Experience up to a maximum of two (2) years.
  • Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: 15 semester credits for six (6) months of Specialized Experience up to a maximum of one (1) year.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) year of Specialized Experience.
