About the Role

This is the entry-level position in judicial case processing, responsible for reviewing, preparing, processing, and maintaining a variety of legal and court documents and records. Employees perform routine and standardized assignments under close supervision, with an emphasis on courtesy, tact, and effectiveness when interacting with court personnel and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine judicial case processing work and assist with more complex tasks under close supervision.
  • Review, prepare, process, and maintain legal and court documents and records for completeness and conformity with laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Resolve deficiencies in documents and track/monitor case processing activities.
  • Maintain, file, track, and retrieve physical, electronic, and digital documents, reports, or other information.
  • Use automated information systems to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve, and report data.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, judicial officers, court users, justice partners, and the public to gather, exchange, and process information.
  • Attend training programs and receive on-the-job training in court operations, automated systems, and related procedures.
  • Seek guidance from higher-level staff on tasks outside specified procedures or standards.

Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas through education, training, and/or work experience:

  • Document processing, including reviewing and evaluating records for completeness and compliance with laws, rules, and procedures.
  • Record keeping, such as maintaining, filing, tracking, and retrieving physical, electronic, and digital documents.
  • Using automated information systems to manage and report data.
  • Customer service, including providing prompt, accurate, and courteous service to individuals seeking information and addressing complaints.

Conditions of Hire

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware participates in the Federal E-Verify system.
  • A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The applicant may be required to pay for the background check.
