Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes and provide instruction to grow student abilities
- Maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for instructional and individual reporting purposes
- Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate level of materials
- Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
- Aid and participate in the management of student behavior in instructional settings, including school grounds, centers, and work sites, to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process; intervene to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator
- Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
- Maintain a classroom and/or instructional environment that is attractive, beneficial, safe and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good condition
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Program Facilitation
- Develop JROTC yearly budget for FBISD and the appropriate governing agency
- Order appropriate equipment and supplies
- Maintain timely and accurate budget accountability reports
- Maintain accurate annual asset inventory reports
- Perform duties delineated in JROTC program instruction as outlined by governing agency
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress
- Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress
- Request assistance and work with resource personnel to ensure student growth
- Collaborate with other professionals, including counselors and librarians, to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
- Support and/or participate in school-wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activities
- Assign work and supervise instructional assistants, parents, and student volunteers as needed

Qualification Requirements
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Minimum of 20 years of active military service
- Retired Air Force, Army, Navy, or Marine Corps Officer
- Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of students
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Work is performed in classrooms, offices, work stations and meeting rooms
- Occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials
- Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties
- May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress
- Employee must hold valid Texas Driver’s License and be able to provide reliable transportation to all assigned locations if serving in itinerant assignment
