Jr. Varsity Assistant Football Coach

Qualifications

  • Ability to collaborate, organize, and supervise a Varsity football program
  • Previous coaching experience in football or working with kids in activities
  • Knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport; willingness to learn and stay updated on new theories and procedures
  • Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions

Reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
  • Promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
  • Implement all athletic policies approved by the ROCORI Schools' Board of Education
  • Knowledge of system, state, and league regulations; interpret and apply them consistently
  • Follow proper administrative channels for requests or grievances
  • Attend required public, staff, and departmental meetings
  • Establish fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques for staff under the direction of the head coach
  • Maintain discipline, address grievances, and foster morale and cooperation among staff
  • Assist the head coach in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special events
  • Prepare for scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to facility times
  • Coordinate with maintenance and school employees
  • Provide documentation for physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility
  • Ensure proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and sites
  • Recommend policy, method, or procedural changes to the athletic director
  • Serve as a mentor to athletes, promoting character traits such as trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship
  • Monitor student athletes' grades and conduct
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for participants during practices, games, and travel
  • Communicate training rules and sport-specific regulations to athletes
  • Manage injury reporting, medical attention, and emergency procedures; submit injury reports within 24 hours
  • Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians
  • Account for all equipment and collect costs for lost or unreturned items
  • Arrange for issuing, storing, and reconditioning of equipment; submit annual inventory
  • Properly mark and identify all equipment before issuing or storing
  • Ensure athletes are only in authorized areas of the building at appropriate times
  • Inspect locker rooms before and after practices and games for cleanliness
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of specific sport equipment
  • Secure doors, lights, windows, and locks when leaving the building if custodians are not on duty
  • Instill respect for equipment and school property in players
  • Assist the head football coach in organizing preseason meetings with parents, coaches, players, and guests

Pay

$4,707 for the 2026-2027 school year.
