About the role
The Jr. Universal Banker is responsible for assisting Universal Bankers (UBs) and conducting cash vault transactions accurately and timely. This role focuses on sales and servicing of all bank products and services, working with the operations and sales team to achieve deposit, business, and consumer relationship growth while providing operational support and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and direct incoming calls to appropriate staff.
- Accurately process transactions and new account openings in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify and communicate process improvements to enhance the customer experience.
- Assess and handle retail customers’ banking needs, including cash handling and processing customer/account information.
- Assist with opening and servicing accounts, identifying cross-selling opportunities for new and existing customers.
- Support Universal Bankers in developing new business by promoting bank services and products to expand relationships and profitability.
- Display exceptional customer service and sales skills while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Maintain accuracy and compliance in all account documentation.
- Minimize risk of losses, including cash differences and other controllable losses.
- Stay current with Federal and State laws, regulations, and the Bank’s policies and procedures.
- Process teller transactions accurately and timely (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, payments, transfers, check cashing, negotiable purchasing).
- Process and validate accuracy of coin and currency amounts for incoming and outgoing cash shipments.
- Maintain knowledge of competitor products, services, and promotions.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Degree or GED required.
- Some work experience preferred; 1+ years of experience as a teller or personal banker is a plus.
- Prior banking experience is preferred but not required; open to candidates with proven success in hospitality, retail sales/service, or similar customer-facing roles.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Team player with a strong desire to learn, exercise leadership skills, independent judgment, and discretionary thinking.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
- Working knowledge of banking regulatory requirements.
- Knowledgeable about a wide variety of retail bank products and administrative support.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate professionally, accurately, and clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
- Make sound judgments regarding customer service and risk to the bank, balancing both effectively.
- Understand when to escalate problems or situations to management for resolution.
- Seek ways to complete tasks efficiently, cost-effectively, and productively without sacrificing excellent customer service.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Work environment
Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Requires frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination for office equipment, as well as oral and auditory capacity for interpersonal and automated communication.
This role supports a hybrid work environment, allowing for a combination of remote and in-office work. Occasional visits to the office will be required based on business needs, with specific in-office days discussed during the interview process.
Pay
The salary range for this position is between $20.19 and $27.40 per hour.
