About the role
Atlas Tech, a veteran-owned IT company serving multiple DoD customers in support of America's warfighters, is seeking a Technical Designer/Drafter in Charleston, SC.
Responsibilities
- Create or update technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Collaborate with engineers, SMEs, project managers, and other drawing stakeholders to gather project specifications and feedback.
- Interpret and translate rough sketches and redlines into detailed and accurate drawings.
- Ensure compliance with the technical drawing SOP, industry and MIL standards and regulations.
- Perform design calculations and analysis as necessary.
- Review and revise drawings to incorporate redlines.
- Coverage with other team members to ensure project deadlines are assigned, tracked, and achievable.
- Identify and mitigate potential issues or risks.
- Maintain accurate documentation of design changes and revisions.
- Continuously update knowledge of CAD software and industry trends.
- Able to travel up to 10%.
Requirements
- A U.S. Citizen.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.
- A Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Drafting, Engineering Design Graphics, or a related field. Candidates with degrees in Art or Design will be considered with CAD software experience.
- The desire to grow and develop into a highly skilled technical designer/drafter.
- Experience using CAD software and other design tools.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of welding, shipboard materials and spaces, and terminology is a plus.
Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship.
