About the role
We are seeking a Jr. Systems Administrator to provide well-rounded technical support across desktop, network, server, Office 365, and general infrastructure needs in a large, multi-site environment. This position will support escalations from the Level I help desk team, assist with administration and maintenance of the IT environment, and work closely with IT leadership and existing support teams. This role is part of a department growth initiative to support increased technical needs and escalations from the help desk.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues escalated from Help Desk Technicians.
- Provide support across desktop, hardware, software, network, server, and general infrastructure needs.
- Administer Office 365, including Office applications, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Maintain hardware and software inventory.
- Support compliance with software licensing requirements.
- Affiliate with deployment and troubleshooting of communication technologies, including phone systems and cell phones.
- Coordinate user hardware and software deployments.
- Perform server and network maintenance as directed.
- Affiliate with general infrastructure administration and maintenance.
- Support a virtualized server environment, including exposure to VMware and Hyper-V.
- Affiliate with IT support needs across a multi-site environment.
- Provide occasional after-hours or weekend support as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience 2+ years of IT support experience.
- Experience in a Level II support, desktop support, junior systems administrator, IT generalist, or similar role.
- Experience supporting hardware, software, networking, systems maintenance, and security-related issues.
- Experience working in a larger organization or multi-site technical environment preferred.
- Exposure to server maintenance, network support, and infrastructure administration preferred.
- Exposure to virtualized server environments preferred.
Technical Skills
- Office 365 administration experience preferred, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Office applications.
- General desktop, laptop, hardware, and software troubleshooting skills.
- Exposure to server and network maintenance.
- General understanding of virtualized server environments.
- VMware and/or Hyper-V exposure preferred.
- Ability to support user hardware and software deployments.
- Familiarity with IT inventory and software licensing compliance.
- General knowledge of systems maintenance and security-related support needs.
Soft Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with end users, help desk staff, and internal IT teams.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, fully on-site support role.
- Ability to prioritize escalated support issues and follow established procedures.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with IT leadership, security, end-user infrastructure, and support teams.
- Willingness to complete an assessment or questionnaire as part of the interview process.
