Jr. Rocket Propulsion Engineer

About the role
The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as an entry-level Engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, Indian Head, MD. You will have an opportunity to work on world-class military programs that support the US Navy's Warfare technology as part of the Surface Systems Branch. The role involves on-site collaboration with other engineers to provide support for rocket motor and energetic component In-Service and production engineering, including fleet failure investigations, energetic components and explosive test and analysis, failure investigations, and configuration management of technical data.
Responsibilities
- Support rocket motor and energetic component In-Service and production engineering
- Conduct fleet failure investigations
- Perform energetic components and explosive test and analysis
- Participate in failure investigations
- Manage configuration of technical data
- Prepare analysis reports and weekly reports
- Occasional travel required
Requirements
- BS degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical, Systems Engineering, or similar field
- 1+ years of engineering experience
- US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance (current successful background investigation completion is a plus)
- Experience with design, analysis, and fundamentals of rocket motor propulsion (preferred)
- Job experience with DoD (preferred)
Skills
- Analytical skills with respect to mechanical drawings, schematics, and diagrams
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Project)
- Experience with MATLAB (or similar) and CAD (Creo or SolidWorks) (preferred)
- Hands-on experience with testing ordnance and explosives (preferred)
- Ability to work in teams and individually
- Project tracking and management
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and work in a dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail

Pay
$86,000 to $101,000 USD per year
