About the role

The Junior Business Development Associate works closely with the EVP of Business Development and other team members to build foundational skills and contribute to long-term business development initiatives. The position is designed as a developmental role, with the goal of progressing into a Business Development Manager position upon successful mastery of responsibilities and performance expectations.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the EVP of Business Development and other team members to develop an understanding of the LDi way, processes, and industry.
  • Participate in meetings, calls, and training to learn company offerings, processes, and industry standards.
  • Creatively source and recruit freight broker agent partners to join the LDi team using networking, in-house leads, competitive intelligence/research sourcing tools, etc.
  • Maintain accurate records of leads, contacts, and activities in CRM or tracking systems.
  • Provide recruiting sourcing recommendations to the team.
  • Utilize social media, Indeed, and LinkedIn to find new, and stay connected with, candidates.
  • Develop and build strong relationships with business partners, leads, networks, and teammates.
  • Absorb and assist Agent Development Managers with the on-boarding process.
  • Attend LDi’s weekly sales meeting.
  • Perform project support tasks related to business development initiatives.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in recruiting or sales (experience may be overlooked in place of additional education).
  • Logistics experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Confidence and ability to prospect, cold call, network, and develop relationships.
  • Proficiency with job boards and social media strategies.
  • Self-motivated, energetic self-starter with a positive attitude.
