Charlies Produce is looking to add an experienced Fleet Mechanic to join their team in South Seattle. We are looking for a professional person who is attentive to details such as being to work on time, a team player, and willing to work hard. A Journeyman Mechanic is a certified, highly skilled professional who independently diagnoses, repairs, and maintains complex automotive or industrial equipment. They perform advanced engine work, system repairs (hydraulics, electrical), and preventive maintenance, often supervising apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Preventative maintenance / Diagnosing, troubleshoot repair mechanical, electrical and computer systems on vehicles or machinery.
  • Running repairs on a variety of equipment from Tractors, Trailers, Lit gates, Reefers and Yard goats.
  • System Overall, rebuild engines, transmissions, and components, and maintain hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure vehicle safety and performance.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate and complete repairs.
  • R&R Truck components including Engine, transmissions, axles, brakes, lift gates, etc..
  • Engine / Transmission diagnose A/C repair Electrical -- charging / starting / lighting / suspension and Steering repair
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy diesel engines, machines and related systems, including Lift gate hydraulics and transmissions.
  • Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
  • Work on and maintain Refrigeration trailers and Box trucks.
  • Completes required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Safety & Compliance, adhere to all safety protocols (LOTO), environment regulations, & hazardous waste disposal guidelines.
  • Supervision & training, guide and train apprentices & junior mechanics, inspecting their quality of work.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years of previous truck diagnosis of diesel mechanic experience on Class 8 vehicles preferred knowledge freightliner Isuzu & Hino
  • Knowledgeable in the diagnosis and repair of all makes of electronic controlled diesel engines. Fleet experience is a must.
  • Must have mechanical and diagnostic knowledge and/or experience in diesel engines, liftgates and refrigeration units
  • Must have basic welding skills and knowledge of TIG, MIG and stick welding.
  • Must have ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to read/follow technical manuals & verbal instructions alike.
  • Comfortable with the use of factory scan tools.
  • Have a professional mechanics toolbox.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Class A is a plus, Class B preferred.

Pay

  • $35.00/hr - $50.00/hr pay rate
  • Potential 90-day performance-based raise
  • Yearly review with possibility of increase based on performance and tenure

Schedule

  • 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Monday - Friday, five 8 hour shifts a week
  • Tuesday - Saturday, five 8 hour shifts a week
