Journeyman Systems Security Engineer (Security Engineering, Analyst)
Support a federal government client at NAS Patuxent River in Patuxent River, MD. This position currently requires an on-site schedule and is eligible for Compressed Work Schedule (CWS). Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participate in identification of weapon system critical program information (CPI), and determination of consequence of compromise.
- Conduct critical analysis and modeling on proposed architectures.
- Document protective architectures.
- Develop and advocate contractual requirements in support of developmental programs.
- Facilitate evaluation of weapons system architectures for compliance to protection standards.
- Coordinate with program, service, Joint and Department of Defense agencies to ensure system horizontal protection requirements are met.
- Assist the Navy Verification & Validation (V&V) team with assessment of system designs and solutions.
- Support program risk management, mitigation and reporting.
- Communicate across the technical teams to share information, address issues, and accelerate pace of new development.
- Serve as a Technical Review Board (TRB) member for systems technical events providing SSE expertise.
- Travel 10 - 15% to other sites, as needed.
Requirements
- At least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in systems engineering including Systems Security Engineering and associated role.
- Must have programmatic or technical knowledge identifying, formulating, designing and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems and as well as guiding the engineering development of modern complex systems.
- Required experience with application of systems engineering methods and tools in the development of weapon systems.
- Knowledge and direct experience in systems engineering, SSE and cyber security related to weapon systems and platforms.
- Knowledge and understanding of systems engineering processes and applications.
- Knowledge and experience in DoD systems acquisition life cycle.
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related scientific or technical discipline.
- Current Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain/maintain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance (clearance process considers financial background aspects).
- US Citizenship required.
Qualifications (Desired)
- Knowledge of model-based systems engineering & digital engineering transformations.
- Recent and direct experience in AT systems engineering is highly desired.
- Recent and direct experience with DoD acquisitions is highly desired.
- Master’s degree in related scientific or technical discipline.

Pay
Projected compensation range is $70,000 - $104,000 per year. Final salary is determined based on individual qualifications, education, experience, and contractual limitations.
