Journeyman Plumber

Job Summary

Performs maintenance, repair, and modifications of campus plumbing systems, equipment, and machinery. This includes the maintenance of water distribution systems, water mains, fire hydrants, and irrigation systems, as well as well-pumping and treatment stations for certain campuses, as applicable.

Essential Responsibilities

• Maintains water quality in accordance with Department of Health regulations, under the direction of the manager.
• Provides plumbing hook-ups as required for special events on and off campus.
• Repairs gas, compressed air and sprinkler lines as required.
• Supports the maintenance of equipment and systems to ensure safety standards and operational reliability.
• Performs maintenance and repair of plumbing and irrigation systems, fixtures, and pumps across the campus.
• Collaborates with internal team members to plan and execute plumbing-related projects, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards.
• Reviews work order requirements and assists in planning tasks, estimating labor and materials, and identifying supplies needed for plumbing and irrigation work.

Position Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed. High School Diploma/Equivalent. Minimum of 5 years Journeyman Plumber work experience. Current State Certified Journeyman Plumber License. Valid Driver's License. Available to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
• Physical Requirements: Frequently walks, stands, bends, crouches, reaches overhead, and performs fine motor tasks. Often requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 20 pounds; with occasional heavy lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, and at times working in cramped or awkward positions.
• Working Conditions: This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business. Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces. Work is typically performed Monday through Friday during regular business hours; however, availability to work evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis is required.
