About the Role

Machine all types of metals and achieve required tolerances (as tight as .0005) and finishes to produce quality parts in a timely manner, meeting standards set by Manufacturing Engineering and Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and check part dimensions during various machining stages using complex measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, special purpose gauges, and scales.
  • Operate manual machines, including Bridgeport mill, engine lathe, manual pedestal grinder, and broach.
  • Maintain continuous visual concentration to develop and uphold tolerances.
  • Ensure all characteristics generated at designated operations conform through applicable inspection techniques.
  • Perform setup and operation of equipment based on drawings, method sheets, or personal job knowledge.
  • Train operators on equipment use as required on a temporary basis.
  • Maintain orderly facilities, materials, and work areas, adhering to good housekeeping practices.
  • Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Actively participate in a team-based environment, including daily team meetings, professional communication, and openness to new ideas.
  • Accurately voucher or account for time using the prescribed system and electronically maintain records.
  • Lift, push, or pull up to 35 lbs as required.

Requirements

  • Journeyman’s certification from an accredited program.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5+ years prototype machining experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and/or production planning.
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (e.g., dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges).

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years machine shop or prior aerospace engines machining experience.
  • Experience with set-up and operations of any 2 of the following CNC machining processes: drilling, milling, grinding, turning.
  • Ability to use computers and learn Microsoft Office.
  • Education and/or training in machine shop operations.
  • Understanding of CNC and manual machine operations.
  • Basic programming knowledge, including reading and editing of programs.
  • Experience in a self-directed team environment.
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge.

Pay

$34 per hour.
