Journeyman Lineman

About the role

The Journeyman Lineman position is a full-time role based in Claremore, OK. Under the supervision of the Electric Director, General Foreman, and Crew Foreman, this position performs complex work in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repairs of power and lighting distribution systems. The incumbent is responsible for restoring power, maintaining lines and related equipment, and providing reliable service. They also train and instruct apprentice linemen.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines, systems, and associated equipment.
• Completes multiple service calls concerning power outages and electrical problems.
• Operates motorized equipment, uses hand tools, and performs routine maintenance on electrical equipment, machinery, and tools.
• Uses climber’s belt and tools to climb poles and follows safety guidelines as set forth by OSHA, NESC, and APPA.
• Works on all aspects of the electric distribution system and provides training both in book/classroom skills and on the job.
• Maintains and stocks vehicles for emergency situations.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and completion of a four-year apprenticeship or equivalent program.
• Certified Journeyman Lineman Certificate recognized by the Department of Labor.
• A Valid Oklahoma State Driver's License and a Class “A” CDL with air brake and standard transmission endorsements, or the ability to obtain within 90 days from the date of hire.
• CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain one within one year from the date of hire.
• Ability to climb poles, work in various weather conditions, and perform strenuous duties.
• Good physical condition and sufficient strength and agility to complete assigned tasks.
