Job Summary

The Journeyman will act as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Journeyman tasks will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Runs major project crews; assumes responsibility for effective performance and provides necessary training;
  • Assumes responsibility for adherence to Company and customer safety and quality guidelines and holds weekly safety meetings;
  • Initiates performance-related communications and escalates to Project Manager if necessary;
  • Collaborates with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with project budget;
  • Fully completes all IES COMMERCIAL and project paperwork accurately and on time (specifically timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required);
  • Performs quality checks; coordinates moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross connects; prepares red-lined as-built drawings;
  • Serves as the main on-site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attends facility and construction meetings when required;
  • Completes work consistently demonstrating a detailed level of technical knowledge; troubleshoots and resolves technical issues as they arise;
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned.

Tools

  • screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves.
  • punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester and 5-gang punch tool.

Qualifications

  • Physical and Mental Requirements: Self-motivated, positive approach, professional, and able to create, develop, and implement project process improvements; promotes Company culture and mission; acts as Company liaison for customer representative(s); possesses proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; reads, writes, and gives oral presentations; able to work at heights, off ladders, in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds; able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones; able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalency; Limited Energy license or required hours to obtain a license with the state of Oregon; at least three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field; able to terminate fiber; at least six (6) months supervisory and/or managerial experience; proficient with listed tools; proficient with interpreting blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements; knows universal communications color codes; proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project); meets Company minimum driving standards.

Pay

Min USD $35.00/Yr. Max USD $50.00/Yr.
