Responsibilities
- Provides support by interpreting blueprints as needed by foreman to ensure a timely and quality completion of the project.
- Coordinates and follows job schedules; i.e., labor hours, and material costs.
- Installs heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, including ductwork, thermostats, air handlers, and refrigeration units.
- Performs system start-ups and ensures proper functioning of installed systems.
- Uses hand and power tools and demonstrates good mechanical skills.
- Oversees work activities to ensure safe work practices and safety rule compliance.
- Provides guidance to junior technicians.
- Works independently and collaboratively.
- Communicates effectively and troubleshoots problems.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience, and trade or technical school classes.
- Journeyman's license or certification in relevant specialty trade.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction industry, preferably with hands-on field experience in commercial refrigeration, electrical, and/or fixture construction.
- Proficiency in hand and power tools, machinery, and understanding of building codes, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures, and comply with state and federal laws.
- Knowledge of typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Very active position requiring excellent stamina for strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Regularly walks, stands, sits, bends, kneels, stoops, crouches, crawls, climbs, uses hands and fingers, lifts up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Works in mechanical rooms with elevated noise levels, near/relevant to refrigeration/HVAC equipment that exposes workers to extreme cold and high heat, and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust.
- Wears appropriate personal protective equipment and follows safe work practices.
