Journeyman Electrician III- DEHE Tribal Utility Support

About the role

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking a Journeyman Electrician to join our team. This position is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of high-level, complex electrical systems, components, equipment, and facilities in rural Alaska.

Responsibilities

• Provides all electrical distributions and control systems necessary for ANTHC project facilities, including but not limited to: well houses, sewage lift stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, washeterias and other buildings and homes as necessary for ANTHC projects.
• Affords all project requirements, workload, and program objectives.
• Installs system components and wiring in compliance with the NEC, NESC, NFPA and the UFC.
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains high-level and extremely complex electrical components and systems of varying applications.
• Troubleshoots and repairs wire circuits, including: transformers, motor control centers and automatic transfer switches, electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices.
• Installs and maintains emergency generators, power distribution systems and various other site-specific electrical systems, components and equipment.
• Determines layout, constructs, installs and tests electrical service, distribution and control panels.
• Determines the need for electrical system parts and supplies; orders and maintains adequate stock levels.
• Determines the cost and type of materials needed for electrical projects.
• Reviews blueprints and specifications; ensures drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use.
• Conducts project review and planning and proposes changes or modifications to plan sets and specifications for sanitation facilities.
• Conducts as-built surveys of electrical jobs and panels as required.
• Identifies defective equipment and repairs or replaces equipment.
• Inspects, repairs and maintains electronic devices.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Journeyman Electrician I: Non-supervisory – Certificate of Fitness as an Electrician Journeyman.
• Journeyman Electrician II Non-supervisory - Four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Journeyman Electrician III Non-supervisory - Eight (8) years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician, or two (2) years as an electrical administrator.

Qualifications

• All High school Diploma or GED AND Completion of approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
• Current State of Alaska Journeyman Electrical License OR must obtain Alaska State Journeyman Electrical License issued by the State of Alaska within 6 months of hire, while actively holding an Out-of-State Journeyman Electrical License, OR Journeyman Electrical License must be issued by a Reciprocal State approved by the State of Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
• Required to possess an Alaska driver’s license with a clean driving record within 6 months of hire.

Skills

• Knowledge of operating, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems of various applications.
• Knowledge of local and national regulatory electrical codes and requirements.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical systems.
• Knowledge of safety precautions when operating motorized vehicles, equipment and hand tools.
• Knowledge and proper implementation of high voltage safety, lockout/tagout procedures and personal protective equipment intrinsic to the safety of electrical employees and teams.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Skill in installing, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and emergency power generation systems.
• Skill in reading and evaluating electrical blueprints, panel layout sheets and other technical schematics.
• Skill in using analytical and research skills to define and solve problems.
• Skill in operating motorized vehicles, equipment and hand tools.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
