Journeyman Electrician

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components to identify and correct issues safely and efficiently.
• Connecting wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components.
• Inspecting electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects or necessary repairs while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
• Testing electrical systems and circuit continuity using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure system compatibility and safety.
• Troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program.
• Current Idaho State Journeyman Electrician license, or the ability to obtain an Idaho Journeyman Electrician license within six months of employment.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of journeyman-level experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; pulp and paper industry experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic.
• Experience troubleshooting and evaluating systems including:
  • PLCs
  • AC/DC drives and motors
  • Control systems
  • High-voltage switchgear and transformers
• Experience with motor management systems, speed controls, and related equipment.
• Willingness to learn and utilize secondary maintenance skills in instrumentation and refrigeration.
• Ability to complete documentation within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Self-motivated, accountable, and safety-focused mindset.
• Flexibility to work shift schedules as needed.
