Journeyman Electrician

About the role

Install, maintain, and repair all types of electrical, incidental electronics, and mechanical equipment to achieve program and business objectives in a timely and quality manner.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical equipment and installations; modify and/or make repairs to electrical and mechanical parts to correct operational deficiencies.
• Carry out a preventive maintenance program for equipment in accordance with approved instructions.
• Read, interpret, and work from drawings, schematics, wiring lists and diagrams, work instructions, sketches, work tasks, and verbal directions.
• Set up and maintain workstations and related materials, control age-controlled items, hazardous materials, and consumables.
• Perform related duties as required.
• May provide work direction or training to other employees as assigned.
• Must hold and maintain a Massachusetts Registered Journeyman Electricians License and any other required certificates, licenses, or registrations.
• Maintain a safe work area and perform duties in a safe manner.
• Operate various computer programs for time recording, machine systems, and business instructions.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.

Requirements

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs, including trigonometric functions.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively with other employees of the organization.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and question unclear instructions.

Physical Demands

• While performing duties, the employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and use hands to feel, reach, and balance.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently, 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 40 pounds without mechanical assistance.
• Requires good eye-hand coordination and a high degree of manual dexterity.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Capable of operating a man lift to a height of 40 feet.

Work Environment

• Exposure to variations in work area temperature, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and potentially toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Workplace facility is 100% on-site.

Pay

Target salary range: USD $37.84 per hour.
