Job Summary

Perform a wide range of carpentry and concrete work for new construction projects, including LNG storage facility. Responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials, using hand and power tools while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and standards. Smooth and finishes surfaces of poured concrete foundations, floors, walls, sidewalks, and curbs to specified textures using tools such as floats, trowels, and screeds.

Typical Duties

  • Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its Core Values.
  • Able to work from drawings and blueprints.
  • Prepares layout, using tape measure, squares, and calipers.
  • Sets up and operates woodworking tools to cut, finish, and form material for the job.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools to form, fabricate, finish, erect, dismantle, repair and refinish structures and refinery office equipment.
  • Builds forms and installs reinforcing rods and anchor bolts for concrete foundations.
  • Locates and installs prefabricated wood and metal parts.
  • Dismantles, erects and repairs various types of roofing.
  • Erects various types of scaffolds including pipe and safety barriers and makes provisions for handling materials needed for the job.
  • Keeps immediate working area clean.
  • Identifies safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Civil Carpenter / Concrete Finisher in refinery, chemical, petrochemical, or similar plant construction or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of civil concrete and carpenter tools.
  • Experience in building and installing formwork for concrete pours, as well as finishing concrete.
  • Ability to pass the Carpenter Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Ability to complete the Matrix Service Safety training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Physical/Special Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces.
  • Work involves standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in Confined Spaces.
  • Work may include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers.
  • Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing a minimum of 35 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds, with assistance.
  • Requires visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
  • Work normally requires eye-hand coordination.

Travel and overtime may be required.

The typical hiring range for this position in Washington is shown below. The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience, specific skill set, geographic location, internal equity, and other factors influencing pay.
