About the role
Ventus Executive Solutions is seeking a skilled Joint Force Operations Planner with Space Domain to support an innovative program office. You will work as an integral member of a government/contractor team evaluating legacy architectures and emerging technologies against evolving joint mission objectives. You will apply operational planning, mission engineering, wargaming, and modeling, simulation, and analysis expertise to develop and assess mission threads, CONOPS/CONEMPs, courses of action, and multi-domain concepts, with particular emphasis on Space Domain integration.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate legacy architectures and emerging technologies against evolving joint mission objectives
- Develop and assess mission threads, CONOPS/CONEMPs, courses of action, and multi-domain concepts with emphasis on Space Domain integration
- Apply operational planning, mission engineering, wargaming, and modeling, simulation, and analysis expertise
- Support mission engineering studies, wargames, and tabletop exercises focused on multi-domain operations, dynamic targeting, IADS penetration, long-range strike, EW, JADC2, and integrated joint-force employment
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Science, Physics, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in operations research, mission engineering, systems engineering, or operational analysis
- 5+ years of experience with mission planning and analysis, including mission threads, OPLANs, CONOPS, CONEMPs, and defense systems evaluation
- 3+ years collaborating with engineering, operational planning, and technology teams, including the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Military Services, Intelligence Community, or OSD organizations
- 3+ years applying modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques to operational planning, system performance analysis, or mission design in defense contexts
- 2+ years of experience in joint operations, combat systems, R&D, S&T, or mission planning
- Active TS/SCI clearance required and SAP eligible
- U.S. Citizenship required
Skills
- Strong analytical, written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills
Desired Experience
- 3+ years supporting USSPACECOM, U.S. Space Force, Joint Staff, Service-level space planning, or related Space Domain initiatives
- Experience developing Space-related CONOPS, CONEMPs, Intelligence Threat Briefs, or operational planning products
- Deep understanding of DoD and USIC structures and knowledge of Space Domain Awareness, orbital warfare, EW/cyber warfare, cyberspace operations, SIGINT, GEOINT, or targeting analysis
- Experience with Force Design, Space Operations Center operations, MBSE, or modeling and simulation applied to space architectures, survivability, integrated air defense, or long-range effects
- Experience as a Combatant Command or Joint Staff J5/J3 contingency or campaign planner
- JSCP and/or GFMAP build experience
- Leadership as an OPT Lead or Battle Rhythm Event Lead during major staff exercises
- Graduate of an advanced warfare planning school such as SAASS, SAMS, SAW, JAWS, or MAWS
- Previous SAP experience
- Direct experience with Service Force Presentation or Readiness Reporting documents, Tasking Orders, or operations-center activities
- Strong strategic writing and COA analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to integrate Service capabilities and multi-domain effects
- Experience coordinating with warfighters, Joint Staff, Combatant Command, and Service intelligence organizations
Pay
$135,000 - $165,000
Schedule
- Onsite: Alexandria, VA
- Travel: Less than 10%
