Help Create a Caring, Just, and Affirming World for LGBTQ+ People and Their Families

What We Do:

  • Offer free peer support meetings for LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and allies
  • Provide educational programming and community-based resources
  • Participate in local events to raise awareness and connect with others
  • Advocate for equality at the local and national levels

Serving on our Board of Directors is a unique opportunity to make a real impact in San Antonio's LGBTQ+ community. You'll work with passionate, committed individuals and help shape the future of PFLAG San Antonio. This is a voluntary, 3-year term position open to individuals 18 and older.

Board Chair Roles

  • Community Events Chair
    • Organize and oversee community events, speakers, and engagements
    • Recruit and train volunteers to represent PFLAG in the community
    • Serve as the point of contact for local and national LGBTQ+ events
    • Evaluate event effectiveness and report outcomes to the Board
  • Fundraising Chair
    • Identify and cultivate donor and sponsor relationships
    • Plan and execute fundraising initiatives
    • Collaborate with other chairs to promote events and campaigns
    • Help set financial goals and support budget planning
  • Diversity Chair
    • Look for diverse community organizations PFLAG could present to
    • Attend informational meetings for events by community organizations
    • Look for ways PFLAG could support DE&I efforts at events
    • Invite diverse organizations to present/educate at PFLAG Support Meetings
    • Educate PFLAG members about diverse groups, what they do, and why it is important

Board Member Expectations

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Attend at least 9 support meetings in person annually
  • Participate in community events and board meetings
  • Serve a 3-year term, elected by chapter members
  • Complete orientation and training
