The Bread & Roses Theatre is an innovative and award-winning fringe pub theatre in Clapham, South London, founded in 2014. Artistic quality, equality, and diversity are at the forefront of the theatre's programming, which features visiting companies as well as in-house productions, with a focus on new writing, underrepresented voices, and distinctive work.

About the role

This is a part-time, project-by-project role supporting the theatre’s small part-time team. Projects in 2025 include:

• Co-Producer of Lambeth Fringe Festival (September/October 2025; pre-production from January 2025)
• Producer of in-house productions (March and November 2025; pre-production from December 2024)

Additional involvement in co-producing or assisting the theatre’s biannual new writing night, The Platform, charity VDAY events, the Playwriting Award, networking events, and general theatre operations is desirable but can be decided on a case-by-case basis. Long-term cooperation is possible and favorable.

Responsibilities

In-House Productions

• Liaising with cast and creatives, coordinating schedules and team members
• Planning, sourcing, and realizing production needs
• Anticipating and managing artistic needs within budget and schedule constraints
• Assisting with production delivery and providing on-site support
• Sourcing and identifying appropriate team members where necessary

Lambeth Fringe Festival

• Supporting the application process, curation, and delivery of the festival
• Coordinating contracts and production requirements for participating companies and artists
• Representing The Bread & Roses and Lambeth Fringe in interviews (phone, written, radio, or TV)
• Ensuring clear communication between up to 150 productions and multiple venues
• Liaising with artists on marketing and PR to maximize ticket sales
• Troubleshooting day-to-day operations, supervising production get-ins, and managing festival/theatre inboxes

All Projects

• Managing and planning production budgets alongside the senior team, including fundraising
• Attending regular coordination and planning meetings
• Creating and distributing press releases, coordinating press requests, and attending press nights
• Promoting projects through online/printed marketing, social media, and word-of-mouth

Optional Secondary Role

Additional regular responsibilities (outside of projects) contributing to theatre operations, recompensed at London Living Wage for 3 days a month:

• Listing productions and events on Off West End, Facebook, and Data Thistle
• Supervising the Front of House rota
• Engaging a reliable pool of freelance FOH operatives and volunteers
• Overseeing PRS Music reports, collating artist/company PRS declarations, and submitting them to PRS and the senior team
• Assisting with company get-ins at The Bread & Roses as required

Requirements

• Experience producing shows on the fringe
• Knowledge of working with fringe-scale budgets
