Job Coach - Work Therapy Technician
Location: Willmar, MN
Part-time, unlimited (permanent) position
Rotating shift (day/evening combination) with shift differential for hours between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am
About the role
The job coach assists individuals with cognitive/intellectual disabilities or related conditions in obtaining employment, teaching them their job, and providing ongoing coaching while they work. Job Coaches also assist individuals in the community and at the program site to increase and develop skills through volunteer work and community activities. Implementation of services will be in both the community and at the program site. The job coach acts as a liaison between local businesses (employers) and program participants. This position assists the program to meet Department of Labor, MN State licensing, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards.
Responsibilities
- Teach and coach program participants’ job and independent living skills, and provide ongoing job support.
- Act as a liaison between businesses for program and community-based opportunities for program participants.
- Document supported person’s activities, progress, and care by recording, summarizing, and maintaining data in standard forms and reports.
- Participate in daily operations of the site to meet licensure, legal, and applicable accreditation requirements and to adhere to established policies and procedures.
- Transport and accompany individuals to community employment, community outings, and recreational activities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Current and valid driver's license.
- Ability to read and understand written material, write sample reports, perform basic arithmetic, and read and interpret charts and graphs.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Clear communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing training/employment programs for individuals who have cognitive/intellectual disabilities, mental illness, chemical dependency, physical disability, brain injury, and/or displaced workers.
- Dedication to ensuring cultural responsiveness and experience working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
Pay
$22.62 - $28.94 per hour
