Ability and Choice Services, Inc. (ACS) of South Salt Lake, UT is a family-owned organization serving adults with developmental disabilities since 1987. We operate a social and community access hub in Salt Lake and Tooele Counties, providing integrated employment supports and in-home care.

About the role

As a Job Coach / ACRE Certified Employment Specialist, you provide direct supported employment services to adults with disabilities. You help them find and maintain competitive employment through job development, vocational assessments, job site and task analyses, job matches, on-the-job training, fading, and documentation. You ensure successful integration into the work environment while gradually reducing dependence, and maintain clear, accurate records. You may also assist with transportation and collaborate on person-centered support plans (PCSP). Advocacy is key—you educate employers, coworkers, and the public about supported employment while continuously improving your methods.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supported employment services to adults with disabilities
  • Participate in job development, vocational assessments, and job site/task analyses
  • Match individuals with suitable employment opportunities
  • Deliver intensive on-the-job training and fade support as needed
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation
  • Assist with transportation when necessary
  • Collaborate in developing person-centered support plans (PCSP) and goal-setting
  • Communicate openly with the Supported Employment Director and residential staff
  • Advocate for service recipients’ best interests in a professional and respectful manner
  • Educate employers, coworkers, and the public about supported employment

Requirements

  • 18+ years old
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Clean criminal record (no history of abuse, exploitation, or related offenses on the Medicaid Exclusion list or felonies in the last 10 years)
  • Ability to pass periodic drug testing
  • Good driving record and reliable personal transportation
  • CPR/first aid certification and local food handlers permit (obtainable after hire)
  • Ability to safely lift 50 lbs
  • Professional appearance suitable for various employment environments
  • ACRE SE certification or ability to obtain within 45 days (paid training provided)
  • Punctuality, reliability, and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Discretion with confidential information and adherence to policies/procedures
  • Patience, calm demeanor, and a passion for serving individuals with developmental disabilities

Pay

$17.00–$19.00/hour

Benefits

  • Full-time benefits including low-cost medical plans

Schedule

Supports may occur anytime during a 24-hour day, but generally align with normal office or retail hours, depending on the needs of individuals served.
