About the role
PRIDE Industries creates jobs for people with disabilities while delivering high-quality, value-added solutions to nationwide customers. As a Job Coach in our Commercial Services division, you will provide on-site employment support to employees with disabilities at a commercial contract, helping them succeed in their roles and maintain positive workplace relationships.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and teach employees with disabilities the skills needed to succeed in their job; provide ongoing direction and answer questions throughout their work shift.
- Assist employees with arrival, departure, transportation, and learning work-site protocols and rules.
- Coach and train employees in managing attendance, schedule, performance, interactions, and personal behavior.
- Maintain case files, including case notes, incident reports, risk assessments, timecards, evaluations, performance summaries, wage evaluations, and work assessments as required by PRIDE.
- Ensure employees work safely and meet quality standards.
- Communicate with employees and supervisors to maintain positive and successful relationships.
- Follow correct procedures for handling emotional, physical, or psychological breakdowns.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year or more of experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
- Knowledge of custodial work preferred.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, using appropriate business English.
- Human relations and customer service skills to maintain effective working relationships.
- Intermediate computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
- Basic mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Problem-solving and common-sense skills.
- Valid Driver’s License (may be required depending on local, state, or contract requirements).
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to maneuver in and around worksites on uneven surfaces for extended periods.
- Viewing computer screens/monitors and utilizing a keyboard.
- Transporting to various sites.
- Exposure to chemicals, dust, noise, and varying weather conditions (wind, rain, heat, cold).
- Work with clients/employees who may present behavioral challenges.
- Ability to maintain strength, agility, and endurance during stressful (physical, mental, and emotional) situations without compromising health or well-being.
Work Environment
Work is performed at customer worksites, including a prison healthcare facility with specialized security and environmental controls. The role may involve days, evenings, weekends, and frequent travel. Some tasks are performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and background noise.
