Job Captain - Workplace - Senior

Gensler is a global design firm that combines creativity and technical knowledge with business skills and understanding to create inspiring, resilient, and impactful spaces. We are looking for a Job Captain to join our New York office.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural deliverables on projects, working with Design Directors and project teams for all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and production.
• Collaborate with design teams, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives.
• Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions.
• Produce graphic presentations, 3D renderings, and construction drawings.
• Manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.
• Participate in activities that will positively impact office culture, including networking initiatives, mentorship opportunities, and learning programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited school.
• 10-15 years of experience as an architectural designer, with a focus on all aspects of architecture and interiors.
• Building experience, from programming to construction administration.
• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling software.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Experience with Rhino, Grasshopper, and Parametric Modeling.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
• Outstanding conceptual 3-dimensional thinking and graphic presentation skills to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
• Able to communicate design ideas and direct others in an effective and efficient manner.
• A quick learner with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong leadership, organization, communication, and relationship management skills.
• Licensed/Registered Architect (on the path to licensure) is a bonus.

Benefits

The base salary range will be estimated between $99k - $130k. Gensler’s total compensation package includes a base salary, two annual bonuses paid in December and June, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and profit sharing.
