Job Captain - Multifamily | Mixed-use

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and production of comprehensive construction documents and construction documentation for multifamily and mixed-use projects (apartments, condos, mixed-use buildings).
  • Manage Revit models and BIM coordination, including setting up project standards, family creation, and clash detection workflows.
  • Cookordination with project architects, designers, engineers, consultants, and vendors to produce fully coordinated drawing sets and specifications.
  • Review design drawings for constructability, code compliance, accessibility, and technical accuracy.
  • Prepare and detail typical construction assemblies, unit layouts, wall sections, and finish schedules for market rate and affordable housing projects.
  • Mentor and review work of junior designers and drafter staff, providing clear guidance on Revit workflows and construction documentation best practices.
  • Manage project schedules and deliverables, track revisions, and maintain organized project file structures and document control.
  • Attend project meetings, client presentations, and site visits to coordinate design intent with field conditions and contractor requirements.
  • Assist in development of scope, fee estimates, and resource planning for project phases as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent technical degree
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant architecture experience with demonstrated experience as a Job Captain or similar role on multifamily and mixed-use projects
  • Proven experience producing construction documents and construction documentation for apartments, condos, and mixed-use developments, including affordable housing and market-rate projects
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and strong BIM skills; familiarity with Revit templates, families, worksets, and collaboration tools
  • Strong technical understanding of building systems, assemblies, detailing, and construction methodologies
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and permitting processes for multifamily housing
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills; ability to work with design teams, consultants, clients, and contractors
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience mentoring designers and working within a fast-paced studio environment; proficiency in related software (AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite) is desirable
