About the role

Lhoist North America’s New Braunfels Plant is a 400,000 ton per year industrial lime manufacturer located in New Braunfels, Texas. The Bagger is both a Production and Shipping position, responsible for filling and loading of bagged hydrated lime products.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the bagging system and related components.
  • Responsible for the proper filling and shipping of bag products to comply with company specifications and customer requirements.
  • Ensure proper operation and care of packing equipment to maximize bag filling efficiency, maintain bag weight accuracy, and preservation of company assets.
  • Operate, problem solve, and make necessary adjustments to the Bag Packers and Palletizing system.
  • Coordinate with palletizer operator to ensure proper bag weights, fill time, and adequate supply of bags.
  • Periodically lift multiple 50 pound bags to restack and reclaim hydrated lime products.
  • Continuously inspect all bagging related equipment to detect mechanical problems and ensure employee safety.
  • Conduct quality control sampling to ensure quality of product being bagged.
  • Assist maintenance with preventative care and minor repairs of bagging equipment.
  • Maintain daily operating report and bag inventory levels.
  • Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner adhering to Company and governmental safety rules and regulations.
  • Report any potential operational or safety problems to management.
  • Cross train in other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors and peers.
  • Be able to work shift work, seven days a week, including holidays, and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
  • Must have a telephone and be receptive to call-outs.
  • Capable of working shift work, overtime, seven days, or holidays, if needed.
  • Able to lift over 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated skills of heavy equipment operation a plus, but minimum as demonstrated for an over the road haul truck.
  • History of safe operation of vehicle as demonstrated on driving record.
  • Must be able to perform in compliance with all task training requirements.
  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Preferred Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Required Experience: 0-3 months of industrial experience is preferred.

Preferred Experience: 0-3 months of industrial experience is preferred.
