About the role

This position supports Solid Waste Collection services, including compost and recycling materials, as well as equipment repair and maintenance for the Trash Cart Program, including assembly and delivery of carts. Work involves disposal of garbage, trash, refuse, rubbish, composting materials, brush, leaves, paper, and plastic.

Responsibilities

• Operate collection vehicles and equipment for solid waste, recycling, and compost materials
• Perform routine inspection, repair, and maintenance of collection equipment and trash carts
• Assemble and deliver trash carts to residential and commercial customers
• Collect and transport garbage, trash, refuse, rubbish, compost, brush, leaves, paper, and plastic
• Maintain accurate records of collection routes, cart deliveries, and equipment maintenance
• Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or ability to obtain within specified timeframe
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 pounds repeatedly)
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Basic mechanical aptitude for equipment repair and maintenance

Qualifications

• Previous experience in solid waste collection, recycling, or related field preferred
• Experience with equipment repair and maintenance, particularly hydraulic systems and small engines
• Familiarity with local recycling and composting regulations
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow route schedules
