Purchase Products and Negotiate Vendor Support Programs
Responsible for profitability and productivity of stock.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in business or related field, plus 2 years of retail store operations experience; or combination of relevant education and experience
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Magic, and jewelry system software
- Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to prioritize/multi-task while providing accurate/on-time results

- Experience in fine jewelry buying
- Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
- Experience directing/participating on project teams
- Retail store managerial experience
- Experience working effectively with all operational and analytical groups
- Experience in proper liquidity management by effectively managing Open-to-Buy
- Experience communicating the strategy to the team and managing upward feedback
- Experience directing, coordinating, and training the activities of the buyer's assistant
- Experience analyzing competitive information and providing input to the Merchandising strategy
- Experience developing the planning and forecasting process and setting inventory targets for each category
- Experience identifying areas of performance which do not meet expectations and developing strategies to improve those areas
- Experience pricing merchandise to maximize sales and profit potential, while remaining competitive
- Experience demonstrating fiscal responsibility through prudent and effective inventory management
- Experience confirming adherence to Fred Meyer Jewelers vendor guidelines
- Experience securing Stock Balance and Salvage Allowance from vendors
- Experience developing advertising campaigns; selecting merchandise to advertise
- Experience analyzing assortment presentation (in store and online) and merchandise accordingly
- Experience making timely, sound purchasing decisions by assessing large amounts of data
- Experience communicating effectively, both internally and externally
- Experience negotiating, selecting, and purchasing merchandise from vendors
- Experience evaluating and making vendor return decisions on salvaged merchandise
- Experience partnering with planner on vendor and category financial plans and strategies
- Experience supervising and coaching direct reports in the performance of their duties
- Experience completing performance reviews and providing feedback to direct reports
- Experience maintaining flexibility to work weekends and travel independently on a regular basis
