About the role
The Endoscopy Technician functions as a member of the procedural area health care team, committed to patient and family-centered care. This role involves assisting the team in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addressing the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of diverse patients.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in accordance with Jefferson's values.
- Recognizes patients and their family/designated care partners to provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on respect for personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
- Assists endoscopist in performing endoscopic procedures, including advanced therapeutic procedures.
- Collects and prepares specimens for diagnostic procedures.
- Supports emergent procedures in the endoscopy suite, OR, or ICU setting.
- Maintains and troubleshoots highly complex equipment used in endoscopic procedures.
- Ensures adherence to quality assurance guidelines in the high-level disinfection reprocessing room.
- Adheres to sanitary policies and infection control guidelines.
- May be required to be on call for urgent/emergent procedures outside of regular business hours.
Requirements
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with specialized endoscopic equipment are required. Knowledge of infection control and sterilization practices is essential.
Qualifications
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in stressful situations. Proficiency in using specialized endoscopic equipment. Knowledge of infection control and sterilization practices.
