Java - Solutions Architect (with AI)

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Onsite) – Contract

We are seeking a Solutions Architect who combines deep technical expertise with strong business judgment to design and deliver scalable, practical solutions that advance strategic priorities. This individual is highly hands‑on, with strong working knowledge of Java and modern AI tools, and is comfortable moving between architecture, prototyping, technical problem‑solving, and implementation guidance. They translate complex business needs into clear technical approaches, evaluate trade‑offs, and partner closely with engineering teams to ensure solutions are robust and aligned to business outcomes. The ideal candidate works effectively across organizations, building trusted relationships with technology, product, operations, and business stakeholders. They are collaborative, pragmatic, execution‑focused, and able to influence without authority while driving alignment across diverse teams. Most importantly, they become indispensable by consistently solving meaningful problems, anticipating needs, and bringing both technical credibility and strategic perspective to every engagement.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, practical solutions that support strategic priorities.
• Move fluidly between high‑level architecture, rapid prototyping, technical problem‑solving, and implementation guidance.
• Translate complex business requirements into clear technical approaches and evaluate trade‑offs.
• Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure solutions are robust and aligned with business outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships across technology, product, operations, and business stakeholders.
• Collaborate pragmatically and execution‑focused, influencing without formal authority.
• Anticipate organizational needs and proactively solve meaningful problems.

Required skills and qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of Java and modern AI tools.
• Ability to move between architecture, prototyping, technical problem‑solving, and implementation guidance.
• Proficiency in Java 17 or later, including concurrency, lambda expressions, and functional programming.
• Experience with the Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Cloud) and related technologies.
• Good proficiency in SQL and experience with major database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
• Demonstrated capability to translate complex business needs into clear technical approaches and evaluate trade‑offs.
• Strong collaboration and relationship‑building skills across cross‑functional teams.
