About the role
This role is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. You will ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements while designing maintainable, well-integrated, and testable solutions from the outset. The position requires strong knowledge of industry-standard development and testing practices, as well as design and architectural patterns.
Responsibilities
- Code solutions and unit tests to deliver requirements/stories per defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
- Design, develop, and modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while maintaining principal architecture integrity.
- Mentor other software engineers and coach the team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stacks.
- Execute story refinement, define requirements, and estimate work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle.
- Perform spikes/proofs of concept to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
- Automate manual release activities.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
Requirements
- 7 years of applicable experience.
- Core Java Fundamentals (Mandatory):
- Strong understanding of Java SE (8/11/17+).
- Core APIs: Collections Framework, Exception handling, Generics, Multithreading & concurrency basics.
- Backend & Framework Expertise:
- Spring Ecosystem (highly preferred).
- Spring Boot (mandatory for modern roles).
- Spring MVC.
- RESTful API design and development.
- Microservices architecture concepts.
- Database & Persistence:
- Transaction management.
- API & Integration Skills:
- REST API development and standards.
- JSON/XML processing.
- DevOps (increasingly critical):
- Containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
- System Design & Architecture (for mid–senior roles):
- Understanding of Microservices vs. Monolith.
- API gateway, service discovery.
- Design patterns: Singleton, Factory, Builder, etc.
- Performance tuning and optimization.
