Java Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices using Java and Spring Framework, Spring Boot.
• Build secure RESTful APIs and integrate with enterprise data sources and internal platforms.
• Deploy, configure, and support applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Provide React frontend support for selected modules (approximately 30 percent of effort) on the Wilmington role.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
• Write unit and integration tests; perform root cause analysis and resolve production issues efficiently with minimal downtime.
• Follow secure coding standards and maintain compliance with financial services regulations.
• Contribute to system design discussions, performance optimization, and technical mentorship (especially on the Houston senior role).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional Java development experience (9+ years preferred for Houston).
• Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and building microservices.
• Solid production experience deploying and supporting applications on AWS.
• Proven ability to design and implement secure RESTful APIs.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Excellent Git, testing, and CI/CD practices.
• Able to work fully onsite and communicate effectively in Agile teams.
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship requirement.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
• Exposure to React or modern frontend frameworks (required for Wilmington).
• System design and technical leadership experience (especially Houston).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (ECS/EKS).
• Prior experience mentoring junior developers.
